Library Policies

Students in the 1st grade check out one book per week, until they are in the Chapter Book Club. Then, they check out a book of their choice and a chapter book on their level. Students 2nd through 5th grades check out 2 books per week, which usually consists of a non-fiction book and a chapter book on their level.
Students understand and are taught that they must bring back both books each week. If they want to recheck their chapter book, that is highly encouraged, but they need to bring it back to be rechecked. Students may check out 1-2 new books if they bring back both books. If they do not, we will hold the books they would like to choose until the next day. This helps teach them responsibility.
If a book is lost or damaged beyond repair, then a student is expected to pay for the replacement of that book. If a family would like they can send in a few dollars a week until that book is paid for. Parents are more than welcome to come in to the library and check books out under their students name. If a parent is unable to come in due to a work schedule, then feel free to email the librarian or call the school to request that their student check out more books.
